The map is not the territory?
Despite ever-incipient MPD, The SYborg's reach remains limited, impaired, for the territory shifts, unrelenting. The map too will have shifted, collectively. Your field notes, your additions, contradictions, clarifications, everything you experience apropos topography—experience notwithstanding cannot be separated from undergoing a way, a path—is welcomed by The SYborg at the_syborg@hotmail.com. You can also use this form. Note: The SYborg may idiosyncratically tweakedit—as little as possible!—materials it receives; in some cases it may ignore them altogether.

"Poets treat their experiences shamelessly: they exploit them." -Nietzsche

A moment of sobriety?
Supposing an ecstatic telepathy, The SYborg hesitates to explain 'a certain game.' Then let us be laconic.

As it stands, topography represents The SYborg wandering (138KB wav), intoxicated experiments in cognitive mapping, from 8/96 right up to this moment of reading. Writing outside '[ ]'s was completed before 10/99, before Bestand was launched online. When The SYborg augments field notes, '[ ]'s differentiate later comments from earlier ones. Now, while The SYborg writes in '[ ]'s, field notes and materials from you appear in '{ }'s, dated and marked by an orbinym. Whether in '{ }'s or '[ ]'s, an exclamation point indicates a visit sans comment; The SYborg instituted this convention around 3/00.

Surely other things want explanation...ah, but The SYborg would never deny you the possibility of an experience with topography. Still we might facilitate. For wanderers weary of weaving stories through The City that they cannot read themselves (for after all, drafting a path through the buildings instantanizes perspective), a small number of programs comes preLoaded.

"From one perspective, a cyborg world is about the final imposition of a grid of control on the planet, about the final abstraction embodied in a Star Wars apocalypse waged in the name of defense, about the final appropriation of women's bodies in a masculinist orgy of war. From another perspective, a cyborg world might be about lived social and bodily realities in which people are not afraid of their joint kinship with animals and machines, not afraid of permanently partial identities and contradictory standpoints." -Haraway

Once underway—insofar as this means perusing the (topoi) pages ordered above—you can bypass their introduction here. Atop each page an analogue of the subway, or of a taxicab:
